It is also known as the Park-monument of the Bulgarian-Russian friendship in Varna or just the Russian monument in Varna. The Park-monument of Bulgarian-Russian friendship is situated on the ‘Turna tepe' hill where during the fights for Varna in the Russian-Turkish war in 1828 the Russian Headquarters were stationed.

The authors of the monument are the architect Kamen GOranov and the sculptors Alyosha Kafedzhiiski and Evgeni Baramov.

The monument was built of architectural concrete in 1978; the building was completed for seven months with the help of 27,000 volunteers. 10,000 concrete blocks and 1,000 tons of steel iron were used for its building. 20,000 plants were planted on the nearby land.

The seventh symphony of Shostakovich sounded in the park at night and the monument, lighted by 180 searchlights, was seen far away in the sea.

There are a lot of beautiful sites on the Varna coastal region. The Fitzhoza region is situated south from Varna; it is famous for its clean and wild beaches.
